Why do Logo ERP stock and account reports differ? Seven checks
Reports that appear to cover the same records may use different dates, document types or filters. Establish the question each report answers before comparing totals. Available settings depend on the product, version and licence.
1. Company and reporting period
Confirm that both reports use the same company, period and reporting date. Check the selected period when reviewing carryovers or historical records. Save both filter selections before changing them.
2. Date basis
Document dates and transaction dates may produce different results. Compare the chosen date field, start and end dates, and any time boundaries. Establish which date determines whether each sample record is included.
3. Warehouse and account scope
A stock report may include selected warehouses while an account report includes specific account groups. List included and excluded records. Check whether access permissions affect the records visible to each user.
4. Document type and status
Compare how returns, cancellations, drafts and closed records are treated. Do not assume every product offers identical filters; verify available settings against the documentation for your version.
5. Units and currency
Record quantity units, conversion factors, currency and exchange-rate choices. A quantity total and a monetary total are different measures. Examine rounding at both transaction-line and overall-total level.
6. Custom report data source
SQL or Excel reports may use different joins and filters from standard reports. Ask the report owner to check its source, refresh time and scope. Duplicate rows or stale data can affect the comparison.
7. Reproduce a small example
Choose a short date range and a few records. Trace the first point where totals diverge. Do not change live data merely to make the totals match. Share the evidence, filters and sample records with your authorised support team.
